This Polish sculpter uses the mediums of bronze, cement, polyester, marble, etc. to exemplify her brilliant dismembered pieces. One of my favorite, below, is 'Wielkie brzuchy' (big bellies), a marble piece she made in 1968. She reassembles the body by liberating the soft, pudgy stomach of a woman - stacking the same piece on top of each other, doubling the sensual and loving pleasures of the body.
other great works by her:
"Portret wielokrotny (dwukrotny)" (Multiplied Portrait [double]), 1967, colored polyester resin
Alina Szapocznikow, "Kroczące usta", 1966 ( photograph of work courtesy Piotr Stanisławski)
