Sucker for Trends

The eclectic trends of spring have again bursted out in all fashion magazines, and like always, I have fallen victim to loving several of them. The few I see now are pig-tails (the childish messy side-part from Prada's runway) and white eyeliner. But there are definitely a couple I will stray away from - the disappearing eyebrow and clogs! Mainly I was in love with Prada's shows, her sci-fi inspired line incorporates surreal prints and illusionistic cuts.

And of course the buttery leather trend is something to love. Below are examples of perfect spring outfits. The leather is all light weight, making it appropriate for spring's weather. From left to right: Celine dress, Alexander Wang AMAZING lamb skin shorts, and top by 3.1 Phillip Lim:

And I'm definitely into the double-demin look, chambray jumpsuits, and underwear as outerwear:

Space Age

Alexander McQueen SS 2010

This futuristic theme will definitely have an effect on trends this Spring. It seems weird to have "the future" be a theme, when it is defined as something we do not know, and cannot be predicted. But it is - all style sites are "predicting" trends for Spring 2010, and "futurism" is one of them. "Topics of science fiction are woven into the threads of some designers' clothing, while others base their designs on more traditional views of futurism".This futurism was also present in Karl Lagerfeld's design's with foil like clothing, and the allusion of plastics.

But I think this trend is very flexible, and will be something very fun to play around with. Metallic fabrics, robotic inspired silhouettes - you can just take this as extreme avant-garde fashion. Dealing with the trend of the future, it in fact isn't even here yet - so the trend, if taken this literally, has endless possibilities. Pairing these new unusual clothes with classics will be a fun experiment.

Perfect

This is an outfit I could wear everyday - the perfect combination that will never go out of style: black and white.

The model, Ginta Lapina, was spotted exiting a fashion show in Paris, and she looks so put together! She is also sporting the odd, I think, new trend of Spring 2010 - pairing bleached blond hair with bleached eyebrows as well. This obviously could not work on everyone and would be a BITCH to keep dying your eyebrows every couple weeks, but Lapina looks great.

Here she is in November's Flair

Armed Forces

The shows of Spring 2010 redeem the forgotten love for the leather bomber and khaki. From Y-3, Phi, and Marc Jacobs, the highly popular spring "trend" seems to be launched upon the influence of military looks and uniform dressing - this in vogue look has been repeated over and over, and this season, these looks below perfect the timeless trend:
