Strangely, I sometimes see similarities between Haskins's use of the body and landscape in Ryan McGinley's work as well (below is an example image by him). McGinley has more sense of body movement in his work, but his representation of the sole body with the bare background, touches on several aspects of Haskins's work

Sam, my love
Again, I must display Sam Haskins. I love his work - his representation of the female nude body was seen as an innovative new turn in fashion photography, when he first came on the scene. I most especially love his use of scenery ultimately relating to the body in his images. He either has landscape in parallel to the human form or attitude- hands down, amazing work. I recently have purchased a photo book of his "Cowboy Kate" series, below are some images I have in my collection on my desktop in the "Sam, my love" folder

Ode to Grunge
V magazine's 63 editorial had a great spread of Natasha Poly shot by Glen Luchford. "Doll Parts"surrounds itself in the theme of rough love, and the cut-throat feminine - ultimately emulating the icon, Courtney Love. He new album also comes out next month - she claims that "it is definitely a Hole project" (I am excited for this). Natasha Poly is great, of course, wearing Spring's dainty trends with grunge pieces and an attitude.

photographs from New Wave magazine, Michael Smits captures the "ominous" factor perfectly
I would also love to make cubes float sometime, just once
High-Light: Irving Penn
One of my favorite fashion photographers, Irving Penn, is known for his bold portraiture and unique take on the human form when isolated and decorated. He studied under Alexey Brodovitch, who is known for his work at BAZAAR. In Penn's work, he collaborates the object and the face perfectly, almost creating the human portrait as a still life when he adds food, and other strange props to his photographs. The man, known for his famous quote, "photographing a cake can be art", shows his viewers the power of arrangement. Below are several of his most renowned works, from the book, "Extreme Beauty in Vogue":
High-Light: Sarah Moon
Sarah Moon model turned photographer in 1970 - in her fashion photography work there is always a sense of storytelling, or the presence of a childhood fairytale.
"I see beauty appearing and disappearing, and I feel disheartened, because I am never sure that I live up to the privilege, that I do what has to be done to convey what I saw. Our anguish, our feeling of guilt stems from the knowledge that it depends on us, on our way of seeing what's in front of our eyes. Not only that particular sitting seems too short, not only that working day, but our whole life as photographers, we are always afraid that it may already be over" - Sarah Moon
